www.cm-sintra.pt

This website provides information on the town of Sintra and surrounding area. A comprehensive guide to hotels, accommodations and historic places and monuments can be researched on the website and local maps can also be downloaded.

This is the main website for Lisbon. It provides information on the history of the city, its museums, monuments, parks, accommodation, restaurants, nightlife, fado, amusement areas, shopping and food.

Links to other websites allow the visitor to obtain detailed information on historic buildings and events.

The website also provides very good information on golf courses around Lisbon as well as information on each of the surrounding touristic regions.
Comprehensive information about travelling to Portugal is also included.

“Follow Me Lisboa”, a magazine for Lisbon, can be accessed on line. This publication, which tells the visitor what is on in town, can also be found in almost every hotel room in Lisbon.

This website is easy to navigate. Its major features are information on the Lisbon Tourist Card, sightseeing, accommodation and public transport.

The best way of navigating the website is through the use of the top menu.

This website provides information on the region known as the Costa Azul which comprises the coastal area south of Lisbon and the Setúbal Peninsula.

This site provides excellent historical information and comprehensive details on congress facilities. The information regarding accommodation, places to eat, arts and crafts and recreational activities is also good as is the data on the region’s golf courses. As the search engine does not perform very well, the best way to do a search is to click on any company, name or area.

The maps provided are not detailed and are difficult to read.

The visitor is greeted by an interactive map of the region. The website covers Leiria, Pombal, Marinha Grande, Nazaré, Alcobaça, Porto de Mós, the villages of Batalha and Ourém and the surrounding area.

Various subjects referring to a specific area can be displayed by clicking on any town or village on the main map.

Information on sports activities, the culture, accommodation and restaurants is available for each village or town. Generic information on each council is also provided.

This website is excellent on driving routes, both scenic and historic, and has an easy to use interactive map. A map for each route is provided. Other interesting features are the 2002 Events Programme, the Glass Route and the history of Fátima.

The site also gives information on the Serra dos Candeeiros Natural Park and the Donkey Reserve.

Website for the region north of Lisbon. This website is in Portugese only.

This website gives information about the area north of the Ribatejo region and includes the towns of Abrantes, Entroncamento, Ferreira do Zêzere, Mação, Oleiros, Proença a Nova, Sardoal, Sertã, Tomar, Torres Novas, Vila de Rei, Vila Nova da Barquinha and the surrounding area.

Information is provided by subject: monuments, nature, typical food, events, major festivals, museums and accommodation.

The visitor can also browse for information by council area.

The website is available in Portuguese only. The best feature is the accommodation and monument list.

This website provides general information on nature reserves, bullfights, museums, sports and other related activities.

Generic information on arts and crafts and traditional food is provided as well as a list of wine producers in the region. Information on congress facilities is also provided and details of accommodation.

This website is available in Portuguese only.

www.cm-vfxira.pt

This website provides information on the towns of Vila Franca de Xira, Póvoa de Santa Iria, Forte da Casa, Vialonga, Alverca, Sobralinho, Alhandra, Calhandriz, S. Joao dos Montes, Castanheiro do Ribatejo, Cachoeiras and the surrounding area.

By clicking on the DASC banner on the left hand side and then clicking on the Patrimonio section, the visitor can access a list of interesting buildings and places to visit for each area.

A brief overview of the main cultural events can be accessed by clicking on the Culture section.

Aside from the above there is little information of relevant interest to the tourist. The site is still being developed.

This website displays information on Mafra and the surrounding area, including the town of Ericeira.

There is detailed information about the history of the area, monuments and places to visit as well as a history of the region, landmark buildings and historical sites.

www.ericeira.net

This site provides detailed information about the town of Ericeira and surrounding beaches, as well as scenic and cultural tours and festivals.

Information on Mafra and the Mafra region is also provided.

An excellent source of information on Ericeira with useful links to accommodation websites.

This website is easy to use.

www.estorilcoast-tourism.com

This website provides generic information on the Estoril coast and surrounding area, events, culture, food and entertainment.

Detailed information is available on monuments, landmarks, museums, art galleries, sporting events and activities, accommodation and congress facilities.

The sections on accommodation and places to see are excellent.

There are links to the Estoril, Mafra and Sintra local council websites which feature detailed information on each area.

This website also has a link to the Overpower website which provides information on surf and windsurfing.

www.cm-oeiras.pt

The website for the Oeiras Council is very technical.

From the touristic point of view the only feature of interest is the section “Museus de Oeiras” which gives detailed information on each museum.
